Willie Nelson, 86, Has Stopped Smoking Weed So He Can Take 'Better Care' Of Himself
“I have abused my lungs quite a bit in the past, so breathing is a little more difficult these days and I have to be careful," the country legend said.
It's definitely news-worthy when one of America's most famous potheads decides to call it a day on the rolling and lighting up! Willie Nelson, who many know as one of the more established country musicians out there, has said in a recent interview that he has stopped smoking marijuana due to his breathing issues.
“I have abused my lungs quite a bit in the past, so breathing is a little more difficult these days and I have to be careful," Nelson, 86, told the San Antonio television station KSAT. "I don't smoke anymore — take better care of myself," said the Grammy-winning crooner of "On the Road Again."

There was a time when mentioning Nelson's name would be synonymous with a discussion about pot smoking and now the veteran himself has decided to hang up the joint for a while... or good.
Nelson, who is easily identified by his unique braids, bandanas, and previously, his affection for blunts, was a long-time and prominent advocate for the legalization of weed. No doubt the recent landmark bill to legalize marijuana on a federal level would have brought many a tear of joy to Nelson's eyes.
But now that he has decided to personally call it quits, it's unsure whether his overall stance on marijuana itself has changed, though it doesn't seem very apparent that it will, due to his decision to stop being a very impersonal one.
The man is 86 years old. If he was using tobacco and or alcohol at the rate he used Marijuana, he would have died 15+ years ago.

Nelson is a co-chairman on the advisory board of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. He and a bunch of other celebrities have even kickstarted a cannabis-themed business venture called "Willie's Reserve", a premium cannabis lifestyle brand that was launched in 2016 in partnership with a New York-based private equity firm.
Needless to say, Nelson's outspoken stance on the medical benefits of pot isn't news to anyone. He even told Rolling Stone in an interview earlier this year that he believes that he's still alive today thanks to years of smoking marijuana.
In other words, he's converted to edibles.

"I wouldn’t be alive. It saved my life, really. I wouldn’t have lived 85 years if I’d have kept drinking and smoking like I was when I was 30, 40 years old. I think that weed kept me from wanting to kill people," Nelson told the magazine, adding that it "probably kept a lot of people from wanting to kill me, too — out there drunk, running around."
Aside from that, he even revealed in his interview with KSAT that, though he has battled pneumonia and emphysema over the years, he brushed off rumors and speculation about his health saying "I don’t give a [explicit]. I’m here, I’m glad to be here."
I heard now he only injects 3 marijuanas a day

Apart from Willie Nelson, other major personalities that advocate for cannabis consumption, use and legalization are Danny DeVito, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Tommy Chong, Danny Glover, Justin Timberlake, Zach Galifianakis, Snoop Dogg among many more in a growing list of individuals who are quite pleased with the way the laws all around the US have changed since the War on Drugs began.
It’s too bad tobacco products over the course of his 86 years on this planet have ruined his ability to smoke “pot”. Thankfully there are plenty of others options for him to still enjoy marijuana responsibly. 🤘💚🤘
