A man in Australia, who forced his 13-year-old stepdaughter to dance in their house while only wearing a sports bra and a nappy, and the words "$5 for sex" scrawled on her has shockingly avoided jail time. This is not the first time that this has happened; the man also had previous incidents where he engaged in misbehavior with the same girl, her brother and his own two children around two years ago. Yet, even then he managed to evade being behind bars. The recent incident in 2018 took place when the mother was in the house but was attending a phone call reports Daily Mail.
The 34-year-old man asked the girl to perform choreography from video game Fortnite and told her, "You're anoxeric" and that "Old men would love this." At a court hearing on Friday in Midland Magistrates Court, in Perth, the man pleaded guilty to indecently recording the girl and other charges. Judge Christopher Stevenson from the District Court said the man's actions were "disciplinary" but not sexual. At the same time, he said no "inappropriate sexual intent was involved" but "found the case disturbing" whilst adding, "Having said that, I express the court’s disgust at the behavior," he said.
Despite such disgust, the man has been let off lightly and is likely to repeat his actions in the absence of any punitive measures. The offender received 14-month intensive supervision for his crime. Judge Stevenson added, "She was in a vulnerable position and it is a gross breach of trust for you to deal with her in the way that you did. Hopefully, you will have learnt your lesson and that you will take steps to make sure that you don’t behave in a similar way in the future." Following the incident, the 13-year-old girl now lives with her biological father.
During the hearing, the court heard the children's (except for the 13-year-old) version of events of various abuses in the house. Vamanan Yogendran, the defense lawyer told the court his client was remorseful and had attended parenting classes. The children's mother still continues to live with the man. In 2017, the man had inflicted some nearly serious injuries on his children and had engaged in deviant behavior. He forced the 13-year-girl and her brother to lie down on their stomachs and made his other younger daughter ride a rocking toy horse that was placed on top of their bodies. This incident also came to the notice of the law but once again he was left off lightly.
In August last year, there was another incident where he caused bodily harm to another child. His 3-year-old son was left with some serious injuries that included a black eye and split lip after he slapped him in the face. He pleaded guilty to aggravated common assault and aggravated unlawful assault causing bodily harm but all the man got was 15 months of intensive supervision order.
