This has been hailed as a miracle by the church's members as well as Christians across the country and the world.
The roof of the church located in Northern Dallas was torn off and much of the building was also destroyed reports Fox News. Shea Sumlin, the lead pastor of Northway Church posted a photo of the church as well as that of the cross that was still upright. The story and the image quickly went viral. He continued, The church is not a building, but a people who stand on the confession that Jesus is the Christ, and against which, not even the gates of hell (nor an EF3 Tornado!) will prevail! (Matthew 16). Matthew 16 in the Bible, relates to the chapter when Jesus tells Peter and other disciples that His church will be built on a rock that not even hell can destroy it.
Sumlin added that while the physical structure and the building was torn down and "may be broken", the church and what it stands for is "whole & alive as it has ever been." Sumlin then signed off but not before praising God and said, To God be the glory! @northway.church. Since being posted, it has been shared several times and received many comments. Sumlin told Fox News, "For me and for our church, it's a symbolic source of encouragement. Christ and His cross is what still stands for us." He also added that the cross was part of the foundational structures of the church when it was first launched 10 years ago. The cross was made by a member..
